This is what believes the European Commission, who organized this year the second edition of the Europioneers. This event is a celebration of Europe’s most innovative entrepreneurs, giving them visibility on a regional and global scale. HUB Institute co-organized this event in collaboration with Deloitte and the European Young Innovators Forum.
Today starts an EU-wide competition to find the startup stars who are developing their companies as well as Europe's digital economy, and inspiring others to follow their footsteps. This year's categories are European Web Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Young European Web Entrepreneur of the Year (Youth Award), High Growth Web Entrepreneur of the Year (Gazelle Award) and Female Web Entrepreneur of the Year.
Nominations are open until 30th June for all the categories and the winners will be announced at The Summit in Dublin in early November 2014. The European Commission Vice President Neelie Kroes (@NeelieKroesEU) said "Entrepreneurs are Europe's secret ingredient for growing its way out of the current crisis, and I'm looking for individuals who show that Europe is the place for innovation" Since 2013, Europioneers is working to promote European Web Entrepreneurs. Last year, over 1200 applications were received and 5600 votes were cast from 27 European countries. Last year's winners were Alexander Ljung & Eric Wahlforss of SoundCloud and Jon Reynolds of SwiftKey.
